It all started when a friend of mine(a web developer) told me about this web development stuffs while drinking beers and chillin' for good. I would've never be curious about it if he would have not told me his monthly income. So I went home, did a lot of search on it and this kind of job pays pretty well. And this where it began.
Youtube is my bestfriend whenever I want to learn something new and because of it I learned HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, PHP and Javascript. To tell you frankly, those video tutorials were not enough to enhance my skills so I have to dig deeper.
Thanks to torrent sites, I manage to download those paid/premium video tutorials cause I dont want to spend a single penny though you already knew how to get it for free. I always love freebies, no offense.
Then I watch those video courses and I didnt regret it. I learned about web development workflow, making your website responsive, about Node Package Manager(NPM), automation tools like Gulp and Webpack, contributing projects to Github, Object-Oriented Programming in Javascript, compiling and bundling CSS and Javascript, using BEM(Block Element Modifier) for your CSS Architecture and using Babel for Javascript. Wordpress is the one that I was excited and eager to learn and it took most of my time developing websites using wordpress.
The very basic language in web development and the most easiest to learn of all time. It took me a week for me learn this language before proceeding CSS. But there are still some elements or tags that I need to work on with because I'm not really a fan of preemptive memorizing. Researching is my meat and potatoes.
The language that made me hook for two months and still learning more about it. CSS will provide an eye-catching website and making it responsive to all devices like mobile and desktop. Some of developers underestimated this language because they think that its is so quite easy. Well, they have to reconsider to think again.
The most interactive language in my web development courses. Though I only learn basics like object-oriented programming, its quite helpful for me as a developer in terms of manipulating classes or id's in the DOM(Document Object Model). In fact this is my stepping stone in learning more and more about javascript.
I'm not really a fan of using bootstrap but I've had some experience of using it. It's quite easy and it can boost your web development workflow since it already have pre-designed components like carousel, buttons, alerts, cards and much more. But it can also be a pain when your employer wants a custom design and you're screwed.
At first, I had some difficulties of learning wordpress because this was my first CMS(Content Management System). It only requires a basic PHP knowledge and from time to time, I finally get it. I learned Custom Post Type, Wordpress Loop, Custom Queries, Advance Custom Fields, Communicating to REST API and much more.
An automation tool that saves the day. Gulp saves me from auto compiling/bundling CSS and Javascript, auto-reloading webpages using browser-sync, optimizing images and svg's, minifying Javascript and CSS, and building. I already have my own configuration in my gulpfile and I used it in every projects to speed up my workflow.

Staying current is what I have in my mind right now because I dont want to get behind. Web development, wordpress specifically, is in demand yet a crowded places wherin you could meet a lots of talented competitors. Not to mention there are page-builders to which the one who doesn't know about coding can build an extravagant websites. And staying current to all of my tools and designs will help me rise up.
Next is learning javascript. Javascript is a popular language which most of the developers used. And I'm still learning a thing or two about this language, but first I have to learn the plain javascript language to whom they refered as "vanilla javascript", before I proceed to those javascript frameworks like jquery and react.
And finally, I have to learn about advance wordpress, like the famous wordpress plugin woocommerce. Every e-commerce website always strikes my curiousity on how would they do it, how do they integrate payments or any questions regarding e-commerce that makes the question mark revolves around my head.
But it doesn't matter because I will never stop from learning. And if curiousity strikes me, then I will have to dig deeper cause its all worth it.
